thanks diesal3 for pointing that out.

All modifications to the client can lead to problems. Remove them and it should work. if not feel free to report it.

    cheers

I think that there are a lot of "dirty" installations where the game client hasn't removed old files, especially with Steam, and so it might not be feasible to ask players to remove "mods" or offending old files because it might not be possible to know which ones they are.

Would it be possible to create a tool that checks the list of files that are supposed to be there, go through the TERA installation and delete any files or folders not on that list? I think it would deal with both any modifications that anyone has put into the game during 32bit AND left over files where the game client hasn't deleted them.

Note: This is a rare issue that I've encountered a handful of time over the years.

Generic UI Background / Foreground Issue. Basically, sometimes UI elements that are in displayed in the foreground are not selectable, and go to the background if there is another window behind it. It is useful to note that that affected UI non-selectable UI element has most probably crashed have been misloaded by the game because it automatically loads after a resurrection.

There are two different versions of the Visual C++ that cover the 2015 date range. From what I have seen from the Korean and Japanese system requirements for the 64 bit client, they both make reference to the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, and not the latest 2015 ~ 2019 Visual C++ Redistributable.

If you are having issues crashing at the Splash Screen, and have already gone through previous debug steps such as Steam validation etc, please check your version of Visual C is the 2015 only version.

    ====

"But I tried to install the Visual C++ Redistributable for 2015 and it says that 'the installation cannot be completed as there is a new version of this software already installed on this machine' ".

That's okay. To replace the 2015 ~ 2019 with the 2015 version, you will need to go:

    - Start -> Settings -> Apps & Features

    - Search for "Visual" and it will filter all the Visual C packages you have installed

    - Go to "Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 ~ 2019" and uninstall that one.

    - Once finished, run the Visual C++ Redistributable for 2015 installer.

    You should be done.

    Can confirm this as well.

Observation: Dungeons aren't in requirement order from lowest to highest and there are two VS Entries, one labelled and one not labelled.

This may be a side affect of Instant Level 70 on PTS.

Lancer Skills: The UI shows both Stand Fast I and Stand Fast II. This is a UI bug, and does not affect redeemed Glyph Points, as the the selected Glpyh for both is only counted once,

Choice of wording on Boss HP Bar is currently "Next Rage".

Suggestion: Use "Enrage" instead, as Enrage is the term that has been used in-game since weapon rolls to increase enrage damage dealt / reduce enrage damage taken were introduced.

Weapon Rerolling UI has Text Cutoff and Overlapping Text

    Suggested fixes:

    - Widen UI Window

    - Shorten UI Text Entries). For example, shorten "Option: Retention Material" to "Retention Material". This may not possible for weapon rolls.

Expected Behaviour: Sliders for the Nose modification should all be above the "Default" / "Complete"

Actual Behaviour: Bottom Slider for Bend goes over the "Default" / "Complete" buttons.

Suggested Fix: Raise the whole Slider UI up.

Extended Shortcut Bar has a labelling issue where Right 1 and Left 1 labels are one across from where they should be. Visually, you can view it as in this image:

I have also recorded an interactive video, in case that makes it any clearer:

Okay, so quite a few of us are trying to get the PTS client to start up and it crashes at the TERA Splash Screen.

I think we've all taken the following steps to try and resolve the crash:
    - Started the game multiple times
    - Uninstall and ReInstall the PTS Client
    - Steam Verification
    - Clean up S1 Configs

This hasn't worked for a quite a few of us and the game is still crashing at Splash Screen.

Okay, for those of you that have already followed this and it still crashes, you need to check if you have previously used modded GPK files with either the standard 32bit Steam release or beta 32bit Steam releases and delete them.

For some reason, what Steam has done is patched the backup of your entire game and pushed that to you, instead of doing the sensible thing and just pushing a clean PTS client.

Please can you fix the Glyphs? The active Glyph page for the doomzoned characters have all been reset to no selected glyphs.

From what I can see on Discord, when a player logs into any character on Mystel, the player is no longer able to log into the character they were on.

The loaded characters CANNOT interact with the following:

    - TERA Club Functions

    - Skills (0HP / 0MP). Can't run anything if we can't use skills.

    - NPCs (because none load)

    - Parcel Post

    - Leaderboard

    - Tikat

    - Dressing Room

    - Fashion Style (Hair Styles)

    - Buffs

    - Logout (I'm going to guess that going back to Character Select from a character is also broken).

    - Skil Glyphs aren't loaded.

    - Guardians won't update.

    - Can't channel change

    Secondary known side effects:

    - After closing the game or logging out of a character, you cannot log into any character that has been logged into because it is doomzoned.

    - Can't log out and the server doesn't appear to be kicking players yet, probably because any doomzoned character isn't properly logged in on the first place.

In TERA, we have seen this behaviour before, and the only fix to retrieve characters that have been made inaccessible like this is to wait for maintenance.

This would usually not be an issue, except that it appears to be affecting a large proportion of active players on Mystel with at least one character, with a high chance of it being a main character due to farming the Double Drop event.

I have no desire to irritate you, but you should be at least a little familiar with computer science. Since we are required to download a 60GB game, and to have a lot of resources on personal computers .... It is expected that the servers will be at a much higher level !!! The population of each server is controlled, and when the limit approaches - the server is upgraded or a new one is installed !!! Accordingly, software and technical support of the given servers is required !!! When this is missing - even just one of the above the server starts crashing !!! Thank you for your attention .

Assuming that they actually follow the science, and apply measures based on it, you're not wrong.

But as we saw with En Masse Entertainment and their servers, they never had enough server resource to handle waves in the past and had to manually increase it with maintenance.

You're also forgetting that there is a financial cost to the servers. The more powerful a server is, the more investment you have to put into it to keep it running. So a service provider wants to have just enough to run the servers with an expected capacity, while also keeping costs down.
